Producer tasting notes: (1979 vintage) "A very fine vintage whose style has often been compared with the 1978; it seemed to us that when one of them opened up, the other started to close again, and vice versa... But the tannins have always been more tender and soft than the 1978. It will not likely improve with time and so, we suggest to start drinking it now or not holding it for much longer. (October 2018)" - Chateau Margaux

The weather conditions were very similar to those in the 1978 vintage: a wet spring, a hot summer in July and cool in August; and a very fine end to the summer. Once again, the grapes just managed to reach a very good level of ripeness.
