Sehr viel Würze in der Nase: Koriandersaat und Gewürznelken, ein Hauch Weihrauch, eingelegte Zwetschgen. Kräftiger Gaumen, gut eingebundene Säure und Tannin, das allerdings im Finale etwas trocknend ist.

Aromas of crushed black pepper, violet and tilled earth are front and center on the nose, with blackberry jam and blood orange riding underneath. This is juicy and full on the smooth palate, lifted by bright shots of tart cranberry. It shows a lot of appeal upfront, but ends a bit short on the finish. Alexander Peartree

Ripe cherry and blackberry aromas are lifted by orange and potpourri spices. Rounded in feel, the palate pops in bright, bouncy red-fruit flavors, with spicy tannins riding underneath. Accents of violet and graphite arise on the midpalate and extend through the finish. Alexander Peartree

This is clean and subdued wine, without the overtly jammy and cooked aromas you sometimes find in southern Italian reds. The alcohol feels warm in the mouth; and the finish is marked by polished tannins and dark fruit.
