2021 Vintage Tasted: Dec 2024

Aromas of black cherry and pepper add a bolt of energy to a nose that's otherwise defined by umami, savory notes of top soil, dark chocolate and coffee grinds. The palate is layers of blackberries, chocolate and more black cherries, but that peppery earthiness also endures. Carefully constructed, fine-grained tannins tame an electric current of acid on the finish.

2020 Vintage Tasted: Apr 2024

A layered nose leads with salt and pepper, then turns earthy, vegetal and woody, before finishing with black cherries and blackberries. On the synthesizing palate, a smudge of earth keeps the berries' freshness in check, before a swirling mocha finish ties everything up with a bow. Tannins and acid are harmonious throughout.

Brilliant dark ruby red. Intense nose of juicy plum, cherry, ripe raspberries, as well as some cold smoke and leather. Juicy on the palate, with well-defined fruit and acidity, great spice in the harmonious finish.

This is aromatic with blueberries and black cherries, as well as hints of blue flowers, spices, dark chocolate and crushed stones. Full-bodied with layers of firm, fine-grained tannins and deep blue fruit. Structured and focused with a lingering finish that continues to build. Well crafted. Better after 2025.

Serio e di natura complessa mostra note di prugne nere, more, incenso e tante spezie indiane. In sottofondo le note di coriandolo e cumino aumentano la stratificazione sensoriale di questa giovane referenza made in Tuscany. Corpo pieno, tannini perfettamente. maturi privi di spigoli ed un finale fresco e disteso che mostra i muscoli in modo elegante. Bellissimo sin da subito ma meglio dal 2025. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Very tight and firm with polished tannins that are poised and creamy-textured. The fruit shows plenty of blackberry and raspberry character. Lightly chewy finish. Better after 2024, when it will have opened up.

Leuchtendes, funkelndes Rubinrot. In der Nase fein duftend nach Sauerkirsche, Hagebutten, unterlegt von deutlichem Pfefferton. Am Gaumen saftig, mit herzhafter Frucht, nach Waldbeeren, hat mittleres Gewicht und zeigt sich harmonisch in Ansatz und Verlauf, endet auf edlen würzigen Tönen.

Really attractive aromas of cherries, cedar, citrus and flowers follow through to a full-body with fine, polished tannins and delicious fruit. Savory with an ash and stone undertone to the fruit character. Drinkable now, but better after 2023.

Refinado e macio, mostra perfil elegante, com notas especiadas, terrosas, de ervas secas e de flores, que envolvem sua fruta vermelha e negra madura. Chama atenção pelos taninos de fina textura e pela acidez refrescante, que trazem tensão ao conjunto. Tem final longo e persistente, com toques de grafite. Made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine opens with aromas of red berries, sweet baking spice, grilled herbs and a whiff of cedar. The structured but almost weightless palate doles out ripe red currants, red raspberries, licorice, mocha and white pepper. Supple, smooth tannins weave alongside the juicy flavors. Drink through 2016–2022.

This is silky and chewy with blackberry, dark chocolate and hints of hazelnut. Full body, wonderful core of fruit and a long, rich finish. A serious wine to commemorate the relationship between the Mazzei family and Thomas Jefferson. This needs two to three years to soften.

2008 Vintage Tasted: Aug 2013

Beautiful aromas of blackberries and wet earth follow through to a full body with velvety tannins and a long finish. Velvety and slightly austere tannins. A Bordeaux blend in homage to Philip Mazzei, who helped the late US president Thomas Jefferson to establish his vineyard in the state of Virginia. It's made from various vineyards of the Mazzei family in Tuscany. Four to five years of bottle age will put this just right. Enjoy.
