Expert tasting note: (2012 vintage) "Deep, dark, not quite opaque. Aromas are ripe & plummy with clean oak. Palate has vibrant plummy fruit with touches of pepper, cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa. Tannins give the finish good grip. Acidity is soft & the alcohol is balanced to high - leaving the finish is a touch warm." - 11/16 DCAMW

- Producer Notes
- According to the Delon family, Château Nénin is the epitome of a great Pomerol "vin de garde" (wine for laying down). It combines power and elegance, complexity and balance, purity and refi nement. The gradual increase of Cabernet Franc within the vineyards gives the wine tautness, distinction and freshness. To really appreciate the Grand Vin's ageing ability, you may need to be patient. Like all great Pomerol vins de garde, Château Nénin blossoms over time.

- Vintage Notes
-
The vintage 2012 was characterised by a slow, late growth cycle due to a very cool and wet spring. The budburst was spread out over time and created a variation in the stages of development that was to be partially evened out by the dry, sunny period that began in mid-July. The colour change and ripening occurred in ideal weather conditions that continued through to harvest-time. The grapes remained perfectly healthy despite rainy spells during picking.

Vintage quality: Good

The 2012 vintage for Bordeaux was small and difficult at times, but not without moments of greatness.
Spring was tricky, with damp conditions – April was extraordinarily wet – delaying both budburst and flowering, the latter finally occurred in June. Howev...
