Braucht – was normal ist in dieser Phase – gut 30 Minuten, um sich etwas zu öffnen, doch dann offenbart sich die Tiefe, die ausserordentliche Qualität der Tannine, die grosse Dichte und Spannung, das lange, für Pétrus nicht eben übliche, aber umso verführerischere Johannisbeerfinale. Herrlich.
2014 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2017
A wine evincing true enlightenment. It’s floral on the nose and also shows blackberries, stones, minerals and cedar. Full-bodied, yet its so fine-grained and tight. So, so long. It builds like a waterfall on the finish. The tannins are powerful yet superbly integrated and harmonious. Needs four to five years in bottle. Drink in 2023.
2014 Vintage Tasted: Jan 2017
The wine is a velvet glove in an iron fist. The smooth surface of ripe fruits and rich blackberry flavors, masks the dense tannins that will allow this very great wine to age for many, many years. The acidity and the rich fruit combine with the fine dusty tannins. The wine will surely not be ready to drink before 2027.
2014 Vintage Tasted: Apr 2015
Gute Frischfrucht. Brombeere. Herzkirsche. Sandelholz. Geschmeidig, ölig, auf druckvolle Weise seidig, makellos reifes Tannin, guter Nerv, leichte Süßreflexe, lange und homogen anhaltend, sehr feine Materie, aber in seiner nahtlos runden Fülle auch (post-)modern. Sehr viel Alkohol: 14,5 Prozent. Unterm Strich beeindruckend in der Art, wie der Reichtum in Finesse überführt wird.
2014 Vintage Tasted: Apr 2015
The color of red gems with the quintessence of black raspberry, tiny French lilies, cocoa bean, pink peppercorn and charcoal, this wine is all about the finesse and sublime purity found in the fruit. The silky, sweet cherries in the end note remained etched in the finish. Produced from 100% Merlot, the wine reached 14.5% with pH 3.6.

Ruby. Blueberries, fruity, detailed nose, scented, light floral note, layered. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, dark berries, fruity, detailed, lang.
