Expert tasting note: (2022 vintage) "Deep, dark purple/black color. Aromas are of restrained dark fruit. The medium-bodied palate initially shows quite soft & juicy dark-fruit (cassis & elderberry). The fine tannins are drying with spicy, cedary, oak notes. Alcohol is balanced by ripe fruit. The finish combines juicy cassis fruit with a firm, drying structure. The wine ends really drying with exotic spices." - 04/23 (ep) DCAMW

After a relatively cool winter, an early mild, rainy spring aroused fears of April frosts. Though frosts came, very little damage was done, before the weather turned hot and very dry. The Gnes made the most of these summer-like conditions and the welcome heavy rain that fell in June, the latter helping the vines cope with the ensuing heat-waves and drought during summer. A superb was made from early-harvested fully ripe grapes.

Vintage quality: Excellent (Legendary)
Current condition: Will keep
The 2022 vintage for Bordeaux looks set to be surprisingly good, despite the perilous growing season.
