Quinta de Azevedo Branco Reserva

The Azevedo domaines date back to the 11th century when they were granted by royal donation to the Azevado family. The vineyards and winery, including the mysterious tower, remains since the 15th century. This Reserva blends 70% loureiro with 30% alvarinho, fermented cool, with 10% skin contact. This then aged in stainless on lees (5% in older barrels), with regular bâtonnage over 6 months. This is showing lovely concentration, with fragrant pear and pear skin, yellow plum, tangerine blossoms coursing through a savoury edged, amply saline palate. Quite a bit of stuffing glad intensity for 12%. Impressive now, but will still be in a year or two, and suitable for pork tenderloin or roast cod. (Treve Ring).

From this beautiful 11th century estate comes a balanced blend of Loureiro and Alvarinho. With its freshness balanced by the ripe citrus fruits and touches of green pear, the wine is tangy and bright but with a creamy edge that will develop well. Drink now, but it'll better from 2021. Roger Voss

(2019) Again 70/30 blend of Loureiro and Alvarinho, with 40% fermented on the skins to build texture. An extra dimension of ripeness and fruit skin grip, the palate bone dry and powerful. So intense on the palate, skinny and grippy, lemon and orange rind, wonderful creamy texture.

Un excellent Vinho Verde issu d’un délicieux assemblage de Loureiro et d’Alvarinho cultivé au coeur de l’appellation Vinho Verde dans l’extrême nord du Portugal. La Quinta de Azevedo, acquise par Sogrape en 1982, est située entre les rivières Lima et Cavado. On y élabore des vins typiques de la région, tel ce Vinho Verde Reserva. Le nom « Vinho Verde » peut prêter à confusion, car il ne fait pas référence à la couleur du vin, mais bien à l’état de jeunesse dans lequel ces vins sont habituellement libérés et consommés. Celui-ci développe des arômes de zestes de limes, de nectarines, de pêches et d’ananas, complétés de subtiles notes végétales et minérales. Vif et tendu en bouche, le vin charme avec sa texture veloutée et sa grande fraîcheur. Le parcours organoleptique s’achève sur une longue finale minérale. Servir à 12 °C. Idéal avec la brandade de morue, le plateau de fruits de mer, la salade verte, le fish’n chips, les bouchées au saumon, le ceviche, la sole meunière, les calmars frits, ou avec la dinde.

Nariz fino e expressivo. Boa fruta, floral, limoeiro, fresco. Muita estrutura na boca, sem peso, vivo e frutado. Final de qualidade, persistente e convincente.
