Critic tasting note: (2020 vintage) "The Marcenasco bottling from the Renato Ratti estate offers superb examples of Barolo and particularly the sleek and elegant style of the commune of La Morra. The ripeness of the 2020 harvest adds flesh to an already fine wine. The bouquet is fascinating, with sweet cherry and raspberry fruits enhanced by hints of sandalwood, dried herbs, anise, potpourri and baking spices. The flavors are layered and rich, with the ripe red fruits interwoven with tea leaf and floral nuances as well as sandalwood, vanilla and spice components. Although forward and thoroughly enjoyable now for its generous fruit, the 2020 Marcenasco Barolo will develop and improve for another 10+ years in the cellar. 93 Wayne Belding" - Wine Review Online

- Barolo Marcenasco has ancient origins. History bears witness to the existence of documents at the “Rigestum Comunis Albae” that mention the cultivation of Nebbiolo in the zone denominated “Marcenascum” already back in the XII Century. Barolo Marcenasco is smooth, balanced, and elegant, reflecting the typical traits of the zone of La Morra. It is the wine that right from its inception represents our history and our identity. Refining for approx. two years in oak barrels of 25 hl and 50 hl, followed by bottle refinement of approx. one year.
- Producer Tasting Notes
-
Noble and generous, a glory of Old Piedmont, it is a wine suited to very long aging. Barolo is the absolute master of the dining room. It conquers the palate with strength, harmony and fullness and maintains its power at length. A great wine for important dishes, red meats roasted on a spit or grilled, game, dishes of gourmet white and red meats and ripe cheeses. Garnet red. Fragrance with notes of licorice and tobacco. Full and elegant flavor.
