Rene Bouvier took over from Henri in the 1950's, Bernard took over from Rene in 1992 and in 2019 also took over brother Regis Bouvier's vineyards from Cote de Nuits.
Critic tasting note: (2023 vintage) "There is so much depth and complexity here, lifted and refined. This shows aromas of black cherries, citrus peel, licorice, wet bark and potpourri. The focused palate is textural and mineral with lovely energy and tension as well as fine-grained tannins that persist until the mouthwatering finish. Made from 100-year-old vines. Excellent. Blackberries, earth and mushroom with some bark aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Dark strawberry and forest floor undertones. Lovely richness and decadence. Drinkable, but better in 2026.

Aromas of this wine suggest toasty oak, with highlights of pepper, nutmeg and a slight edge of vanilla. On the palate these notions are readily absorbed by a smooth mass of ripe but fresh red cherry. Smoky hints give a darker tint to the fruit. This wine shows off the ripeness of 2018 with elegance, energy and verve. Anne Krebiehl MW

Made from 80-year-old vines from several parcels, this is a concentrated and dense wine. Red berry fruits give freshness, but it is the structure that counts. Drink from 2018.
