This wine is produced from a vineyard owned by Tim and Angela Coddington, whose grapes have contributed to the blend of Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay since 1998. It is a vineyard that produces very rich and unctuous Chardonnay that we have long believed could make an excellent single vineyard wine. In 2006, we decided to give Coddington single vineyard status to reflect this vineyard’s unique character.

2011 Vintage Tasted: Oct 2018
In a blind tasting, I'd confidently identify this as a white burgundy from a cool vintage at three to four years of age. Plenty of apples and pears, medium body and lively but by no means strident acidity, make this very appealing. Drink now. Screw cap.

For whatever reason, the Coddington lacks the extra dimension of the other 2011 Kumeu River Chardonnays. It's still an excellent wine, just linear and crisp, with subtle toast framing citrusy fruit.
