Bright rich ruby with delicate garnet highlights. An open nose, which initially shows fine herbal notes, then cherry and beetroot. On the palate it has nicely ripened fruit, grippy tannins, but unfortunately it is a bit sandy on the finish.

Aromas suggesting roasted walnut and toasted oak lead the nose along with a hint of eucalyptus. The lean, light-bodied palate offers suggestions of sour cherry, coconut and coffee bean alongside dusty, fleeting tannins that leave a drying, astringent finish. Kerin O’Keefe

Clear ruby with a light garnet edge. Fragrant and intense nose with notes of ripe, dark cherry and some blackberry, very clear. On the palate unfortunately quite a malty touch, opens with grippy tannin, dries up slightly in the back course.

Maturo al naso mostra note di ciliegie e fragole tagliate. Una leggera percezione di foglia di tabacco domina lo sfondo. Corpo medio, tannini leggermente secchi ed un finale semplice. Bevi ora.

Leuchtendes, intensives Rubin-Granat. Offene und zugängliche Nase, etwas Apfel, dann viel Zwetschke und Vanille. Am Gaumen markante Säure, wirkt dadurch recht spröde, im Finale viel Holz.

Aromas of ripe black-skinned fruit, ground pepper and a whiff of toast lead the nose. The straightforward palate offers dried cherry, pomegranate and roasted coffee bean alongside fine-grained but fleeting tannins that leave a mouth-puckering finish.

This classy expression of Chianti Classico opens with delicate aromatic layers of red berry, blue flower, moist earth and a tiny touch of chopped herb. It's an understated wine that would pair with poultry or white meat.
2006 Vintage

This is a nicely shaped Chianti Classico with pretty renderings of cherry fruit, spice, tobacco and dried herbs. The mouthfeel is short but lively and the wine offers medium structure and persistence on the finish. It's a great, informal food wine.
2005 Vintage

The new Santedame is using more and better sangiovese clones. There have been many vineyard improvements undertaken and there is a much stricter selection process for the fruit. The plan, according owner Adolfo Folonari, is to reposition Santedame as a 100 per cent sangiovese, from the acclaimed and eponymous Chianti Classic estate that should, and will, be taken much more seriously by consumers. The nose is clean and fragrant with red currants leather, ripe plums and peppery notes. The palate is dry and elegant with more black cherry fruit, liquorice and spicy cardamom flecks. It's impressive young Chianti with a bright future. Lay this away for 3 to 5 years. (Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe).

Fresh cherry, plum, spicy, peppery nose with hints of liquorice and cardamom. Dry, elegant and round with soft, light tannins. Black cherry, peppery, smoky liquorice flavours. Good intensity and fruit, drinkable now but will improve over the next two years. Impressive tasty Chianti. (Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe).
1998 Vintage

A dense smoke and toast cocoon envelops the dark fruit in this supple wine. Our tasters found the oak overbearing, obscuring the fruit. If it's juicy, it's in an unusual, cedary, raisiny way, with leathery accents. The wine seems at once young and closed, yet rather mature for its age. A curious offering.

Dark berry, cherry and herb aromas blossom into full flavors and pick up handsome tar and licorice accents on the palate. Full but smooth on the finish, it doesn't settle for superficial appeal, but has substance, good structure and it will age nicely.
