Beginning this year, the Gran Blend is a co-fermentation of the different varieties that make up the final blend. Extraction has been reduced, maceration is more delicate, and aging has been extended to 18 months in 225-liter barrels of different uses. This vintage is 30% cabernet sauvignon, 30% malbec, 20% cabernet franc, and equal percentages of syrah and merlot, all from the Uco Valley. Cabernet sauvignon seems to dominate the nose with its spicy, and especially its herbal notes. The palate is juicy with knife-sharp tannins.

100% of this blend comes from vineyards in the Uco Valley. It's 30% cabernet sauvignon from Gualtallary, 30% malbec from La Consulta, 20% cabernet franc from Gualtallary, 10% syrah from El Cepillo, and the rest is merlot from Gualtallary. Aged in oak for 18 months, the presence of spices and herbs, plus the tobacco aromas of cabernet sauvignon and franc, dominate on the palate. What the acidity does here is refresh and contribute to the sensation of crispness, something that's very difficult to find in the 2020 vintage. This has a long life ahead of it, although it's delicious now with grilled lamb sweetbreads.

This year's Apartado blend is 30% cabernet sauvignon from Gualtallary, 30% malbec from La Consulta, 20% cabernet franc, and 10% syrah, both from Gualtallary, plus 10% from El Cepillo, all from alluvial hillsides in the Uco Valley at the foot of the Andes. this is a wine that will evolve in the bottle for many years. It has firm tannins, lots of fruit, and acidity that speaks of a future of more complex fruits and aromas. Patience.

The 2013 version of this Gran Blend is 30% cabernet sauvignon, 20% cabernet franc, 30% malbec, and 20% syrah, all from different vineyards in the Uco Valley. The four varieties are co-fermented and then barrel-aged for two years, making it deliciously smooth and juicy. This wine has lots herbal notes, but it’s also full of sweet red fruit everywhere you turn. It’s delicate on the palate, with vibrant acidity.
