Producer tasting notes: (2009 vintage) ""Deep violet-ruby-red colour. Seña 2009 is complex and intense in the nose, with abundant fresh red fruit that recalls raspberries and cherries harmoniously mingled with notes of cinnamon and red tobacco, along with a light touch of incense and cedar. Th¬e palate confirms what the nose perceives and shows a red fruit's predominance nicely accompanied by sweet spices, a balsamic touch, and flavours that recall hazelnuts and walnuts. Vibrantly textured with fine-grained tannins lend liveliness and structure to the blend in a wine that is long and very elegant. - Seña, was created as a joint venture between Chilean Eduardo Chadwick and American Robert Mondavi way back in 1995. their aim was to make a wine that would demonstrate the full potential of Chile. Modelled on a Bordeaux style, it would have a Chilean soul, with its grapes grown under biodynamic farming principles in the Aconcagua Valley. their dream was to create a wine that would be welcomed, in time, among the world's First Growths.

¬The 2008 – 2009 season will be remembered for its high heat summation and ultimately for delivering wines with perfect balance and structure due to work in the vineyard by the year's weather conditions to achieve well-balanced yields. The season began with a frost-free spring and early bud break. Th¬e average temperatures and monthly heat summation from October through December resulted in relatively regular dates for flowering and a slight delay in veraison concerning the historical dates. Average temperatures were higher than usual in January, which resulted in healthy and relatively early ripening. It also required us to pay particular attention to the water balance to ensure the foliage remained active to reach a proper balance between sugar accumulation and phenolic maturation. Th¬e red wines of this vintage are exquisite and juicy with good concentration.

Kräftiges Rubinrot; offene, feinduftige Nase, tiefgründig, reiffruchtig, florale Noten, die an Veilchen erinnern, auch Eukalyptus; am Gaumen klar und rein wie ein Bergbach, ungemein saftig, top strukturiert, feine, bereits gut verpackte Tannine, wohl dosierte Säure, viel Leben und sehr gute Länge. Um ano mais quente e de tempe raturas mais elevadas . Tinto composto a partir de 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Carménère, 16% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot e 3% Cabernet Franc, com estágio de 22 meses em barricas novas de carvalho francês. Sente-se um ano mais quente no perfil de fruta vermelha e negra mais madura, com as notas florais, de ervas, de mentol e de especiarias doces envolvendo o conjunto. Muito bem feito em seu estilo de maior concentração e opulência, com ótima acidez e taninos firmes, que trazem sustentação ao conjunto. Álcool 14,5%.

Garnet tints glint in the opaque wine. A lifted nose combines a minty edge with a lactic note and an aromatic notion of sweet tobacco and sun-warmed hay. All this is pitted against lovely notions of ripe, juicy plum. The palate is dense but has a quintessential Cabernet Sauvignon elegance, Carmenère lift and Merlot juiciness. This is evolving but wonderfully fresh and vivid on the palate, with ripe, smooth tannin. Very balanced, rich but with every muscle well defined. Beautiful

(2016) 54% Caberenet Sauvignon, 21% Carmenere, 16% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc, aged in new French oak for 22 months. Lovely softening rim, the colour just a touch pink on the rim. Very attractive nose. There is a pronounced oak influence, quite fragrant but with smoky vanilla, cedar, very good fruit, cassis and depth. Not too big, tempered by savoury orange acidity and fine but grippy tannins, a chewy density, some umami richness and savouriness. Long and well balanced, perhaps a smidgeon too much oak apparent.

This is a powerful and structured red with currants, minerals and blackberries. Full and very silky plus has firm tannins and a chewy finish. Stoney. Needs another three years to soften. A beauty.

Distinctively Aconcagua with its green olive, minty, cassis nose. The attack is dry and round with smoky, spicy, orange peel, lifted cassis fruit with balsamic, dill, vanilla, leather and tobacco flavours. Long finish with good finesse but a touch herbaceous and cool for this class of wine. Needs 2-4 years best with grilled meats. The blend is 54% cabernet sauvignon, 21% carmenère, 16% merlot, 6% petit verdot, 3% cabernet franc. Wolf Blass Master Blend Classification Montreal. (Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe).
