Critic tasting note: (2012 vintage) "It's been a few years since we lasted tasted this wine and it appears to be a little skinnier and fresher and a little cheaper. The nose is a mix of honeysuckle and orange/pear fruit with a dash of crushed mango and rose oil. The entry is similar with a soft palate and a ripe tropical melon/ passion fruit a dash of spiced orange. Try with spicy chicken or pork dishes. 2012 Vintage
Tasted: Nov 2014
It's been a few years since we lasted tasted this wine and it appears to be a little skinnier and fresher and a little cheaper. The nose is a mix of honeysuckle and orange/pear fruit with a dash of crushed mango and rose oil. 2008 Vintage
Tasted: Jan 2010
Refreshingly crisp in acidity, with a clean mouthfeel and pleasantly rich peach, honeysuckle and vanilla flavors. There's even a diesel-like petrol note, like Riesling. Great value in a stylish white wine.
2007 Vintage
Tasted: Aug 2009
The '07 version sees a bit subdued, less exuberant fruit with a bit more oil and heat. The nose is a mix of honeysuckle and orange/pear fruit with a dash of rose oil. The entry is soft in texture with similar with a soft palate and a ripe melon, passion fruit and white peach notes. Should be fine with spicy dishes, chicken or pork. Tasted: May 2006
Big honey, floral, butter, quince, citrus, ginger nose with a touch of sausage meat. Soft, ripe, round, dry palate with ginger, mineral, honey, butter, and citrus rind flavours with a touch of melon on the finish. A bit warm on the finish but a bit more balance than past editions. Tasted: Jan 2005
Provides all the flowery, exotic fruits you expect from a Viognier, in a dry, crisp wine. Has a minerally backbone that adds structure.
2003 Vintage
Tasted: Dec 2004
This makes two hits in a row for Smoking Loon Viognier and I like the style of '04 is even better than the 03. It's a touch leaner which is the way to go but it's still packed with juicy honeysuckle orange fruit flavours and with flecks of melon, quince and pineapple throughout. Peking duck jumps to mind but it will also pair well with roast turkey at this time of the year. Good value but could get even better with the rise in the dollar. (Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe).

Tasted: Jun 2004
Smoking Loon is pure fun from its name and label to its enticing open honey, mineral, orange, cream and spicy mango nose and flavours. It's fat, round and fresh with good elegance and acidity. Ripe mango, honey/orange fruit mixes with baked quince and butter flavours in the finish. Fine effort, delicious drinking and great value. (Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe).
2003 Vintage
Tasted: Jan 2004
This is a great price for a fresh, clean wine with such fruity complexity. Floods the mouth with peach, apple, pineapple and spice flavors that are ripe and rich. A good value.
2005 Vintage
Dry and crisp just like a Sauvignon Blanc, but with Viognier's blast of pineapple, nectarine and honeysuckle flavors. Appealing for the wealth of fruit and bright acidity that makes it so clean.
2000 Vintage
A bit cloying at first, but healthy acidity adds balance. Flavors are pleasant, with nice apple and peach notes at the fore.
