Expert tasting note: "The apotheosis of vinous elegance, this is a fine, lean, poised, mineral-style Champagne. The wine has a soft, fine, persistent mousse & crisp lemony acidity. The palate appears bone-dry and is of medium weight with numerous subtle notes of cream, toast & honey from long yeast ageing. The finish is exceptionally long & very clean." - 9/12 DCAMW

This cuvée is created using juice from the first press only.Of the wines that make up its composition, 5% have been aged for 4 months in new oak barrels, one third of which are replaced each year. These enhance the inherent qualities of the final blend of toasted notes. Taittinger knows it must be patient with these great Chardonnays, which are the crowning glory of its terroir; the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs remains for up to 10 years in the chalk quarries beneath Saint-Nicaise, before emerging to ignite and delight the palates of wine-lovers.
