Critic tasting note: (2017 vintage) "Château Thivin owns about 18 acres of this 65-acre east-facing vineyard in Brouilly, the largest and most southern of Beaujolais’ ten cru. Lighter and fruitier than their Côte de Brouilly, it still conveys underlying minerality because of the rose-granite soil in the vineyard. Bright and filled with red fruit flavors, it has none of the firmness of their Côte de Brouilly. (Michael Apstein)" - Wine Review Online

Deep crimson, purple-blue highlights. Clean, expressive nose of spices and black fruits. Fleshy, richly fruity mouthfeel with a chewy finish. Fresh, easy-drinking. A wonderful, characterful wine. Cellar for (at least) a few years.
2008 Vintage
Tasted: Jan 2009
Structured, with firm tannins, a far remove from the image of Brouilly as the softest of the Beaujolais crus. There is spice, fresh juiciness with berry flavors rolling around the wine. But the structure comes through strongly, the finish with fresh acidity.
