- The Millenium red wine is made only with excellent vintages and it comes from Viña Alta, the oldest estate planted by Alejandro Fernández in Pesquera de Duero in the late 1960s. This wine is the only wine that Familia Fernández Rivera ages in French oak barrels.

Typical Ribera del Duero power and depth, showing fine-tuned oak spices that only serve to add complexity but not to dominate. Touches of baking spices, vanilla and dark chocolate to the fresh blackberries and incense. Full-bodied and very firm, with fine-boned tannins. More approachable than the previous vintage, and it seems that the wine is more refined and fine-tuned. Still vertically structured, but can be enjoyed now. Better from 2026.

Color: deep cherry. Aroma: ripe fruit, dried herbs, creamy oak, toasty. Flavour: ripe fruit, spicy, round tannins, elegant.

Tasted: May 2023
Complex nose with plenty of sweet spices, pine cones, vanilla and black walnuts to the blackberries and black mushrooms. A hint of bergamot. Tight and creamy on the palate. Don’t be put off by the wood tannins if you open it and drink it while it is young. The fine-grained tannins mesh nicely with the full-bodied palate. While this is quite plush with an old-school Ribera del Duero style, the quality is still impressive. Needs time and should age well in the next 10-15 years. Better from 2026.

This inky garnet-colored wine has a nose of black currant and cocoa powder, with a hint of summer farm stand. Plush tannins and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, mocha, menthol and a tiny touch of saddle leather ply the tongue and gums and linger there for a small eternity. Drink now–2040.

A fragrant nose of dark cherries, dried flowers, figs, violets, rosemary, lavender and spice box. It’s full-bodied with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Layered, rich and textured. Vibrant finish. Drink or hold.

A rich and layered red with lots of ripe fruit, yet reserved, thanks to the smoky and toasted oak. A little old-school now, but I really enjoy the richness and flashy character. Earthy and spicy at the end. Drink now.
