Ricossa Antica Casa (often referred to as Ricossa) is an Italian wine producer based in the northwestern region of Piedmont and producing a range of the region's traditional wines, from Barolo and Barbaresco to Asti, Alba, Gavi, Roero, Nizza and Acqui. These cover a number of classic grape varieties like Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato, Brachetto, Arneis and Cortese.
The history of Ricossa dates to the late 1800s when Lorenzo Ricossa established the Portacomarese distillery on the outskirts of Asti. The distillery grew into the international brand it is today, now part of the MGM Mondo del Vino portfolio of wines.
The company also owns, and is headquartered at, the 80-hectare (200-acre) Ca' dei Mandorli estate just outside Castel Boglione, between Nizza and Acqui Terme, 30km (18 miles) south of Asti. In southern Nizza denomination, the estate is planted to 74 hectares (180 acres) of vineyard.
The Noceto parcel of this site provides Barbera for the company's eponymous Nizza wine.
As well as its own estate, Ricossa Antica Casa sources grapes from established growers throughout the wider Piedmont region. Its top wines include standard and riserva Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco DOCG wines.
