It has a very classy and sophisticated nose of tobacco and black truffle, a cashmere-clad palate with vibrancy and great depth. Multidimensional with a great midpalate and a mega long finish.

The 2005 Lafite is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Merlot. Deep garnet-brick in color, it slips sensuously from the glass with eager-to-please scents of creme de cassis, Christmas cake, and cedar chest, giving way to hints of Indian spices, sweaty leather, and pencil shavings. The mineral-laced, medium-bodied palate is elegant and shimmery, delivering firm tannins and a soft-spoken finish. Delivering a mature, wonderfully evocative experience now, it is well within its drinking window and should cellar to 2045+.

Indian spices, flowers, Cuban cigars, cedar, crème de cassis, and blackberries are just the start of what you find in the perfume. One of the more elegantly styled wines of the vintage, it is marked by its cut and freshness. The wine is refined and expressive, with a silkiness to the fruits, paired with length and purity. The graceful finish lingers with its natural lift and vibrancy. The wine blends 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, along with 16% press wine. It has 13% ABV and a pH of 3.8. Harvesting started on September 27 for the young Merlot vines and finished on October 7. Yields were 32 hectoliters per hectare, and 45% of the harvest was placed into the Grand Vin. It's interesting to note that 2024 is the first vintage that's certified organic. Drink from 2030-2055.

C’est superbement frais et profond ! La prise en bouche est d’un grand dynamisme, rayonnante de fraîcheur. On retrouve des petits fruits noirs frais et éclatants, à l’excellente concentration. Les tanins sont somptueux de netteté et leur puissance est déjà parfaitement intégrée grâce à la fraîcheur du vin. Il faut saluer ce superbe équilibre trouvé, de très grande classe, qui permettra à ce Lafite 2024 de traverser les âges de manière flamboyante. 98-99/100

It goes on for minutes. Reminds me of Lafites that I love made decades ago. Could be the great 1986. A blend of 94% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot and 1% petit verdot. Best after 2030 but already fascinating.

Reminiscent of the 1995 Lafite but modern, this wine is extremely aromatic, showing lead pencil, currants, blackberries, black olives and smoke with some gunpowder. Notes of iodine, stone, blood and ink. It is medium-bodied, with very fine and creamy tannins that show so much finesse and length. Racy at the end. 96% cabernet sauvignon, 3% merlot, 1% petit verdot. Give this four or five years to open.

The wine is a deep, dark ruby-red and keeps its color well to the rim. Cassis & graphite notes are overlaid by hints of truffle. The palate is smooth with a very fine tannic grip. The trusture is silky. Alcohol & acidity are both well in balance, The wine finishes with incredibly pure blackcurrant fruit. The wine is so pure, so juicy and so rich. 04/25 6ltr Imp DCAMW

The medium to deep ruby-red color is not quite opaque. The nose shows a little clean cassis perfume over precise toasty oak. On the palate lovely freshness allows vivid cassis hints to show ahead of a classic cedary mid-palate that is dominated by the wine's fine tannic structure. Alcohol is balanced & the finish endures well. The fruit on the finish is closed & unsupple. 11/06 DCAMW

The palate starts with a concentrated, indistinct dark fruit, from behind which a lovely clean, fresh cassis bursts forth. The wine is of mid-weight with a fine, elegant structure, lovely freshness & warming alcohol. The oak tannins are fine & well-integrated. The long finish comprises fresh, leafy cassis fruit & well-married sweet spices. 10/23 DCAMW
