1919 was the first vintage of peacetime and enjoyed a particularly fine start to the growing season. However, rain during the late summer prompted the spread of mildew and rot, and excess heat and humidity also posed serious problems. Many of the wines ended up with a slightly cooked character and Port was also badly affected...
