If you are seeking a vintage of Leoville Las Cases for current consumption, look no further. Full-bodied, concentrated, long, deep, and intense, the tannins are firm but soft, the fruit is perfectly ripe, and close to seamless finish must last at least 50 seconds or more. An hour in the decanter, or perhaps up to 2 hours kicks this stunner into high gear.

Mittleres Rubin. Feinduftige Nase, feminin, tiefgründig, dezent Ruch, viel Floralität, auch kräuterige Noten, Tee, Zedern, ein Gedicht. Im Gaumen zugänglich, rund, für mich genau so, wie ich Bordeaux liebe, auf den Punkt gereift, dennoch frisch, seidenweiche Tannine, perfekt dosierte Säure, hier steht alles an seinem Platz, das ist Balance pur. Langer, harmonischer Abgang, Klasse! Ich gebe zu, von diesem Wein habe ich nichts gespuckt. Jetzt bis 2035

Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Im Bukett etwas verhalten, tabakig, dunkelbeerige Nuancen, zart nach Cassis und Lakritze, aber auch blättrige Würze. Stoffig, reife Zwetschgenfrucht, dezente Fruchtsüße, ausgewogen, bleibt gut haften, wirkt im Moment etwas zurückgezogen, sollte man etwas Zeit geben, hat sehr gutes weiteres Potenzial.

(2004) Dense purple colour, quite closed on the nose at this stage, but superb cassis fruit and extraction evident on the palate. Hugely complex and with great length and fine acid structure. Might take some considerable time to come round, but will be superb I think.

Langsam öffnet er sich und taucht in die erste reifephase ein. Wundervolle aromatische, tief schwarze Farbe keinerlei Zeichen von alter . In der Nase typisch leoville eher erdige Töne, schwarzer Pfeffer, schwarze Früchte, Teer Kakao unglaublich reintönig am Anfang ein kleiner stinker

Old Bordeaux school. We compared 2000 and 1996. Completely different on nose and palate respectively.
On nose liquoroce, spicy, some leather. Palate: very rich, still slightly tannic rather on aftertaste and still vivid acidity. Very good wine but 2000 is superior.
